Baby Play Friday!

So I have decided to start a new segment called Baby Play Friday. I figured that with all of the Pre-k homeschooling going on that I needed to make an effort to include activities for other age groups as well. I have decided to start with a weekly baby play post. I have to apologize for the quality of these pictures. My flash was going a little crazy.

The great thing about baby play is that just about any thing is exciting to them. On Thursdays I volunteer in a food pantry and while I was sorting through donations, Bug happily entertained himself stacking and re-stacking cans of ravioli. I thought to myself,"Why do I bother with toys at all?"

Babies and toddlers love fill and dump activities, cause and effect activities, and any thing they can mush and squish. So you can really get creative.

I decided to use this information to make a little toy just for Bug out of an empty box of latex gloves. I wrapped it in some fun paper and them used clear packing tape to cover and protect it from destructive little hands. I then filled the box with a bunch of old neck ties. Bug loved taking all the neck ties out and throwing them all over the room, then he went and found little things he could hide inside the box, like cars and legos. He would carry the box around like a little treasure chest, filled with his most important possessions.

So there you have it. Super simple, super fun, and perfect for tiny little hands.
Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Those are fun ideas! I was just wondering are those paints on your baby's face or something else? I read another blog http://aeioumommy.com where the Mom used rice cereals with colors for her baby to play with... Because they usually put everything in their mouth when they play :-) I love the self-made toys!

I am really sorry about the word verification. I have been getting TONS of spam and this is the only way I can get a handle on it. I do love to hear what you have to say and hope that you will still take the time to comment. Thank you.
